[In]human

Emerging from the underbelly of Penza, Russia, Eutectica marks a significant return with their latest album, "[In]human" Originally formed in 2005, the band has evolved over the years, gaining notable recognition for their 2010 EP and engaging in a hiatus that only fueled their creative flames. This latest offering, released on December 22, 2023, showcases their growth and resilience.

"In]human" is a melodic death metal album true and true that delves into dystopian themes, reflecting a society on the brink of self-destruction. The band's lineup, consisting of Ratmir Kolomin (guitars), Anton Dubenskov (vocals), and Denis Vasiliev (bass), synergizes to create a sound that is both intense and melodically rich. Their unsigned status does not hinder their production quality, with the album being expertly mixed and mastered at Anthropocide Studio.

The album kicks off with "Warpath," a powerful track that sets a high standard and has outstanding lead work towards the end of the song, reminiscent of the best of Soilwork could offer.

Other standout tracks include "Prozium," which draws inspiration from the film "Equilibrium," has classic melodic leads that soar perfectly along with solid bass lines throughout and hard hitting riffs linking up with great double kick work. "Heart's Haven," and the title track "[In]human" are also highlights to look out while "When Delusion Is Sweet" towards the end of the album has a potent mix of heavy melody and lyrical depth, leaving a lasting impression.

Each song in the 11-track album offers a unique experience, from the dark, cinematic ambiance of "Sin[e]matic" to the aggressive rhythms of "Innerbeast." The band adeptly weaves in influences from the Gothenburg school of melodic death metal, evident in tracks like "Faded Sun." This six-minute epic combines Dark Tranquility-inspired guitar riffs with aggressive vocals and scathing lyrics, creating an immersive listening experience.

Eutectica's "[In]human" has a great narrative journey through a dystopian landscape, with solid melodic death metal foundations. Fans of the genre, especially those who appreciate the classic Gothenburg sound, will find this album a compelling addition to their collection. Eutectica's return with any justice, should start to solidify their place in the global metal community with this album. Lend your ears to this asap!
